Marco Gervasio studied Economy and Commerce at the University of Sapienza, but soon switched to his real passion and enrolled at the School of Design of the Roman School of Comics, where he ended up a few years later teaching as a professor. One of the top Disney comics creator of Italy, Marco Gervasio begun his collaboration with the big company at 1997, after graduating from Academia Disney with Giovan Battista Carpi as his tutor. He was part of the “Paperinik New Adventures” team and has signed stories with most of the Disney characters, both as an illustrator and as an author, however he is most known for adding depth to the universe of Duckburg’s masked vigilante.
With the series “The Extraordinary Adventures of Fantomius Gentleman Thief” he recounts the adventures of Fantomius, aka Lord Quackett, a Disney version of Arsen Lupin. The stories are set during the 20s, many years before Donald Duck discovers the Fantomius’ journal and his secret equipment at Rhodes’ Mansion and adopts the secret identity of Phantom Duck.
Other known works for Disney are the Disney adaptation of the movie “Lone Ranger” with Goofy instead of Johnny Depp as the protagonist, the series “Disney Junior: Mickey and the Roadster Racers” for the American publishing “Random House” and the recent teenage series “Paperbridge” with a younger Fantomius as the protagonist, while he has also signed comics inspired by the well-known videogame “Angry Birds”.
