ActionAid is part of an independent, international federation that operates in more than 75 countries, fighting against poverty and injustice. In Greece, since 1998, it has been working for a sustainable and just world — educating and empowering people and communities to rely on their own strengths and claim equal rights and opportunities, so they can live free from exclusion and discrimination.
The organization raises awareness, educates, empowers, and mobilizes society, with a focus on vulnerable groups, through innovative programs, services, and collaborations at both national and international levels — helping people achieve sustainable change for their future.
In addition, it offers free programs in Greece. ActionAid’s Centre in Athens serves as a support hub for people living on the brink of poverty and/or facing social exclusion, operating since May 2017. It also functions as an open neighborhood center that welcomes local residents and community groups to work together and shape the changes they wish to see at the local level.
In Thessaloniki, ActionAid’s Youth Hub is designed for people aged 18–30 and youth communities who want to make a difference in their city, take their first steps into the job market, and become active citizens.
